\body
Dear Elise,

Many thanks for your unexpected Christmas card. I hope you
are enjoying your grandchild as much as I have enjoyed my granddaughter
Katherine, Susie's child. Susie married Daniel Gunther, the son of
Professor Gerald Gunther of the Law School. I joke that Susie couldn't
marry the boy next door, because there was no boy next door on either
side, so she had to settle for a boy from two doors away. Dan is a
lawyer, and they live in San Jose.

My younger daughter Sarah is still trying to get into veterinary
school.

However, the news that will susurprise you is that I am a
father again. My son Timothy was six weeks old yesterday. I think
you left Stanford before my present wife Carolyn Talcott came.

Best Regards,

John McCarthy
